Please take notice Port Vue Borough Council has scheduled a PUBLIC MEETING on Wednesday, June 3, 2020. The Workshop meeting will begin at 7:00 PM with the Regular Council meeting beginning at 7:30 PM. Due to the Declaration of Emergency signed by Governor Wolf on March 6, 2020, Council has made arrangements to stream the public meeting live through the Borough’s website and link to Port Vue You Tube Channel. All members of the public are invited to view the public meeting by accessing that page and link.

As a result of this procedure, the agenda for this meeting is posted at the link below. Please take time to review the agenda prior to the meeting. In the event that you have questions or comments related to the agenda or related to non-agenda items, the public may email those questions to the Borough at Council will attempt to respond to all questions at the time of the public meeting during the Public Comment portion of the agenda. Please email your questions until 4:00 PM on June 1, 2020 so that Borough Council and staff are prepared to respond to your concerns.

Minutes of the Public Meeting will be posted within twenty business days of June 3, 2020 or on or before July 1, 2020 at the close of business.

🗑 ♻️ 🗑 Spring Clean up Bin Days 🗑 ♻️ 🗑 have been rescheduled for Saturday and Sunday, May 30th and 31 st from 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Please be advised we are taking the necessary precautions to protect you and our Borough employee’s while still providing the clean up.  You are required to wear a mask and to observe social distancing.

There will be a Television and electronic recycling, cost is $5.00 per item.  You must show proof of residency.

When you pull up in your vehicle you will be directed where to go.  You will be required to unload your own vehicle.

In light of the recent developments with the COVID-19 Port Vue Borough Officials will follow the lead of Allegheny County, the higher officials and CDC recommendations.

On March 13, 2020 the Mayor of Port Vue along with President and Council passed an Emergency Declaration in our efforts to assist our community and residents.

Please be advised as of Monday, March 16, 2020 the Borough Building offices, public works garages and Police Department will not be open to the public. All recreation facilities and the Dog Park are also closed.

If this is an emergency please call 911. If this is a non urgent police matter you may call (412) 672-2255, or call 911 and simply advise the operator of non emergency.

For other Borough inquiries, taxes, general information or office staff you have the option to call, email or mail your correspondence .

Port Vue Borough Officials are recommending that people over 60, or with certain underlying health conditions, stay home as much as possible. For the general public, reducing the opportunity for exposure to the virus is the top priority, and by cancelling events, we are improving the odds. We encourage all to cut back on the time you spend in groups and wash your hands consistently.

We encourage all to practice 6 foot social distancing.

The 2020 Real Estate tax bills will be sent out by the end of March. Due to the COVID 19 and necessary precautions please mail or drop your tax payment in the Police Station night drop box. For your safety and ours the Tax Office is closed to the public until further notice.

Safe Trash Collection

During this COVID-19 pandemic, Big’s Sanitation Inc. is still here for your refuse needs. We ask that the customers properly seal and tie their garbage bags. Please leave no loose trash laying out to avoid any germs or bacteria being spread. We like to keep the safety of our customers and employees our number one priority, especially during these tough times. Please be advised due to Covid 19 and for your safety and convenience, Allegheny County Board of Elections has consolidated Port Vue Borough’s polling places to one location:

South Allegheny Elementary School 1707 Washington Boulevard, Port Vue, PA 15133.

Just a reminder election day has been changed to June 2, 2020.

Port Vue Borough officials accepts grant for $5,000.00 from USS Steel for the purchase of 5 new dumpsters to initiate recycling program.

Port Vue purchases new police vehicle

The Borough and the American Legion are currently accepting applications for the program.
Please be advised in order to have a banner placed for a Veteran, complete the attached application, provide a picture, discharge papers and check or money order for $120.00 made payable to the Borough of Port Vue.

Announcement from the Manager’s office-
All residents of the Borough of Port Vue please take notice Keystone Collections is now collecting all delinquent and current garbage billing. The Delinquents are billed separately from the current. If you have questions regarding your bill, current or delinquent please contact Keystone Collections at (724) 978-0300.

2020 garbage billing will be mailed out by the middle of January 2020. Trash billing can be paid quarterly or yearly.

Please be advised, Pennsylvania American Water has purchased the Municipal Authority of the City of McKeesport.  Residents of the Borough of Port Vue will now receive their sewer bills from Pennsylvania American Water Company. If you have questions regarding your sewer bill please contact Pennsylvania American Water Company at 412.664.7051.

If you have alternative parking options such as a driveway or OFF STREET pads, you are to utilize these for parking during a forecast of SNOW.

Seniors monthly meeting and social in the Borough Social Hall on the first Wednesday of every month.

Upcoming Meetings

Next Regular Council Meeting is June 3, 2020 at 7:30 p.m.

The Regular Monthly Meetings of Port Vue Borough Council have been scheduled for the First Wednesday of each Month with the exception of January and July. The meetings are held in the Municipal Building located at 1191 Romine Avenue, Port Vue, PA 15133 at 7:30 P.M.

Regular Meeting dates for 2020 are as follows: January 6, February 5, March 4, April 1, May 6, June 3, August 5, September 2, October 7, November 4, and December 2.

All Caucus/Executive Sessions are scheduled for 5:30 P.M., prior to all Regular Meetings.

Committee Meetings are scheduled for the third Wednesday of every month at 6:30 p.m.

Trash Collection

Port Vue borough now has a trash collector beginning January 1, 2020 through December 31, 2022
Biggs Sanitation will pick up all trash in the borough on Monday’s only

Holiday Schedule for one day delayed pick up:
No collection Memorial Day, May 25th, 2020 delayed to Tuesday May 26th, 2020
No collection Labor Day, Monday September 7, 2020, delayed to Tuesday September 8th, 2020.

Trash bill quarterly due dates for 2020 are as follows:
March 31, June 30, September 30, and December 31, 2020

Placement of container(s) at curbside may be no earlier than 5 p.M. On the day prior to the designated day of collection and must be removed from curbside no later than 6:00 p.M. The day of collection.
