Due to the popularity of recreational fires, we want the residents of Port Vue to be aware of the regulations as stated in the 2012 International Fire Code. In Section 307: Recreational Fires and Portable Outdoor Fireplaces:

307.4.2 Recreational Fires: Recreational fires shall not be conducted within 25 feet of a structure (house, garage, shed or fence) or combustible material (ex: trees, shrubs, bushes, vehicles and gas engines).

307.4.3 Portable Outdoor Fireplaces: Portable outdoor fireplaces shall be used in accordance with the manufacturers instruction and shall not be operated within 15 feet of a structure or combustible material.

307.5 Attendance: Open burning, recreational fires and use of portable outdoor fireplaces shall be constantly attended until the fire is extinguished. A minimum of one portable fire extinguisher complying with Section 906 with a minimum 4-A rating or other approved on-sire-fire-extinguishing equipment, such as dirt, sand, water barrel, garden hose or water truck, shall be available for immediate utilization.

PERMITTED BURNING MATERIAL

Clean Dry Wood Only

NO garbage, leaves, dead animals, asphalt, petroleum products, paint, rubber products, tires, plastic, paper products, plywood, finished lumber or particle board may be burned!

Fires are prohibited when atmospheric conditions make them hazardous. EX: wind gusts over 10 mph.
