I have great memories and still many friends (and family) in Port Vue. It was a great place to live and grow up. Parents watched out for other kids as well as their own. The "Gang activity" consisted of challenging others to sporting events. The PORT VUE STARS was one of the first hockey teams (we played Dek and Ice Hockey) in the area and defeated all comers.
What has changed? The altitude of the PEOPLE! Too much of "what can you do for me?" and not enough "How can I help"
Those who say it is not great place to live should take the initiative to be part of a renaissance; don't just complain - be active!
"REDD UP" your own house before complaining about others.
Still "Port Vue Proud"

SAHS class of '73. Trimble Avenue. Moved away after high school. Became a master electrician and later wound up an automation controls engineer in Detroit. Still ride my dirt bike and street bike around the same woods and roads I grew up on in PA. I keep them in Port Vue and go back several times a year to ride there and visit family which are all still around!

Hello Colleen,
I lived in Port Vue until the age of 12. I have only returned twice in the last 44 years. Not much has changed on Grey and Smith Streets. My underground fort was still prsent on my last visit. The Blue Rock Club was under new owners. The management let me into the bowling alley. What great memories of setting up pins into the wee hours. Several of the trails in the woods were still in minor use. I could not locate either of the two time capsules I buried in 1962. If found I hope they enjoyed the artifacts. When is the firemen's parade?

I was born in McKeesport by Dr. Fischer and lived on Dersam Street until 1963. I attended St. Joseph's through the 3rd grade. I enjoyed being a child there and usually come back once a year to visit family grave sites and visit a few remaining relatives. I miss the old days of Green's and Murphy's, National Tube, The Clover Farm and Balsamo's! Be glad to hear from anyone who remembers!
